It would be impossible for you to do anything without your muscles. Absolutely everything that you conceive of with your brain is expressed as muscular motion. The only ways for you to express an idea are with the muscles of your larynx, mouth and tongue (spoken words), with the muscles of your fingers (written words or "talking with your hands") or with the skeletal muscles (body language, dancing, running, building or fighting, to name a few).

Biologists from the Buck Institute in Novato, California reported that strength training not only improved strength, but significantly reversed the genetic fingerprint in elderly participants, as reported in the online journal PLoS One. The study looked at the effects of six months of strength training in 25 elderly volunteers aged 65 and older (average age: 70). The researchers took small biopsies of thigh-muscle cells from the seniors before and after the six-month period, then compared them with muscle cells from 26 young volunteers (average age: 22).


 "To be honest, we were expecting some indication that the exercise program improved strength," says biologist Simon Melov, director of genomics and coauthor of the study. What the scientists didn't expect was what they actually found that after six months of resistance training, there were dramatic changes at the genetic level. As Melov puts it, "The genetic fingerprint [of the elderly participants] was reversed to that of younger people not entirely, but enough to say that their genetic profile was more like that of young people than old people." The seniors participated in

hour-long sessions of strength training twice a week for six months, using the same types of machines found in most gyms. By the end of six months, exercise had changed the expression of a third of the 600 genes identified at the beginning of the study as either becoming more or less active with age. "The others appear to be related to aging, but not exercise," says Melov. But he was struck by a common feature of the ones that did change. Overwhelmingly, they are involved in the functioning of mitochondria, the powerhouses of cells, which process nutrients into energy. You might expect that, as a result, the participants had more energy and that's exactly what they reported. The take-home message is clear, said Dr. Mark Tarnopolsky of McMaster University in Canada, who headed up the clinical portion of the trial, "It's never too late to start exercising. You're only as old as your genes.

 EXERCISE HELPS TO HEAL & HELPS TO PREVENT MEMORY LOSS

Dementia with aging is associated with every risk factor for heart attacks: smoking, overweight, lack of exercise, high blood pressure and cholesterol, abdominal obesity, diabetes, kidney damage, eating too much saturated fat, refined carbohydrates and calories, not eating enough vegetables, and so forth. A study from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland shows that if you don't want to lose your mental function with aging, you had better start and stay on a vigorous exercise program (Neurology, October 2006). Four hundred and sixty survivors of the Scottish Mental Survey of 1932 were tested on the same general memory tests at age 11 and again at age 79. They also were tested at age 79 for their level of physical fitness by having tests for grip strength, 6-meter walk time, and lung function. Those who had the highest scores for physical fitness also had the highest scores for mental function. They also found that

those with the highest IQ at age 11 had the best lung functions at age 79, which may mean that intelligent people are more likely to stay in shape. This study adds to the evidence that physical exercise protects your brain.


 EXERCISE ABILITY PREDICTS LONGEVITY

March 13 2002 A new study offers the strongest argument yet for getting fit. California researchers found the ability to exercise, as measured on a treadmill test, is more important in predicting how long a person will live than even obesity, heart disease or smoking. Of course we have all heard that, but few people, even doctors, have understood that fitness is far more important than many other factors people often worry about. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine, one of the largest ever, proves it.


 EXERCISE CHRONIC DISEASE. REST ACUTE DISEASE

Exercise chronic disease (more than several days duration), but completely rest and never exercise acute disease (less than several days duration).

Do exercises that are progressively stressful or resistant. When exercising, muscles should be contracted to their fullest extent and joints should be carried through their full range of motion. A short period of intense, vigorous exercise is better than a long period of mild exercise.

 I DO ANAEROBIC EXERCISES DAILY

I anaerobically weightlift daily, 365 days per year, for 2 hours, single repetitions, with heavy weights. I exercise each major part of my body. I do the same exercises daily. I use free weights. I exercise at home. I daily do squats, dead lifts, standing presses, exercise my pectorals, latissimus dorsi, abdominals, external and internal obliques, triceps, biceps, forearms, wrists, fingers, neck, trapezius, upper and lower legs, etc. I daily sprint on the Santa Monica, California, USA streets, on vertical ground, sprint up staircases, vertically jump and long jump, for 1 hour. I "feelingly meditate" daily. I daily do sungazing, take nude sunbaths and airbaths. I am 100% raw vegan foodist for 55 years. I am 5'10'' and weigh 230 lbs. I am in my late 70's years of age. I am in excellent health, I am very strong. I have a muscularly toned body.


 WHAT ARE AEROBIC EXERCISES?

Aerobic exercise helps you gain endurance, not muscular development. Aerobic exercises are light exercises such as: long distance cycling, long distance rowing, long distance running, long distance swimming, ballroom dancing, tap dancing, walking, jogging, cross-country skiing, calisthenics, etc. To develop muscles, do anaerobic exercises (not using oxygen, without oxygen).

WHAT ARE ANAEROBIC EXERCISES?

Anaerobic exercises are exercises not using oxygen, i.e., without oxygen. Anaerobic exercise is exercise of such intensity, that you can only do it but for a few seconds. Do this anaerobic exercise as often as possible. Concentrate and "feelingly meditate" on your feet and toes areas, while standing, while sitting and while lying down. This will help you overcome dysfunctional toxic stress to those areas. Your toes and feet will help heal, completely and permanently. Anaerobic exercises are sprinting, running up stairs rapidly, jumping high, long and vertically with intensity, rapid cycling, rapid rowing, rapid swimming, weight throwing, weight lifting with low repetitions, hand balancing, gymnastics, chins, parallel bar dips, roman rings, rope climbing, tubing, bands, pulleys, wrestling and martial arts. Anaerobic exercises are intense exercises that can be tolerated for only a few moments. They are short bursts of all out activities. They are activities using muscle groups at high intensities that exceed the body's capacity to use oxygen to supply energy. They create an oxygen debt by using energy produced without oxygen. They are activities in which oxygen demands of muscles are so high that they rely upon an internal metabolic process for oxygen.


ANAEROBIC EXERCISES ARE: ISOTONIC, ISOKINETIC, ISOMETRIC & NEGATIVE OR ECCENTRIC

Anaerobic exercises are: Isotonic, isokinetic, isometric and negative or eccentric exercises.


 WHAT IS ISOTONIC EXERCISE?

Isotonic exercise involves movement of a constant heavy weight through a full range of possible movement. It is muscular action in which there is a change in length of muscle, keeping tension constant. Lifting free weights is a classic isotonic exercise.


 WHAT IS ISOKINETIC EXERCISE?

Isokinetic exercise is exercise in which there is ACCOMMODATION RESISTANCE and constant speed. Nautilus is a type of isokinetic machine where the machine varies the amount of resistance being lifted, to match the force curve developed by the muscle. Isokinetics is an exercise in which the maximum force of which the muscle is capable may be applied throughout the range of motion.


WHAT IS ISOMETRIC EXERCISE?

Isometric exercise is static contraction. It is the application of a high percentage of your existing strength against an unmoving resistance, a fixed limit. Isometrics entails your pushing against an immovable force, such as another set of opposing muscles, a wall, building, door, bar, taut rope, towel, two-ton truck, etc. If you push hard enough, you feel stress on your muscles. A world famous isometric program is Charles Atlas "Dynamic Tension Course". In isometrics, each exercise should be practiced at several joint angles. Training at many angles distributes the strength gains throughout the range of the muscle's movement. In isometrics, each hard-as-you-can push or pull should be held as long as possible, to the point of muscular failure. Isometric exercises can be done practically anywhere. They are simple and effective. Isometrics increase the strength and improve the muscle's tone and shape. Isometric exercise entails muscular contraction where the muscle maintains a constant length and joints do not move.


WHAT IS NEGATIVE OR ECCENTRIC EXERCISE?

In negative or "eccentric" exercise, you lower the weight very slowly, at a smooth steady pace, without interrupting the downward movement. In positive or "concentric" exercise, you raise the weight at normal speed. In negative exercise, your muscle is stretching and lengthening while maintaining tension against resistance. In positive exercise, the muscle is contracting and shortening against resistance. In negative exercise, you resist pressure and in positive exercise, you apply pressure. The muscle has the ability to handle more force during negative exercise than it can during positive exercise.


 HOW DR. BERNARR DOES WEIGHTLIFTING FOR 2 HOURS DAILY

Someone wrote and asked Dr. Bernarr "how can you do single reps (repetitions when lifting weights) for 2 hours? Do you mean you do a rep with a heavy weight, rest, then do another rep, then repeat?" I do my single repetitions, thusly. I do not rest between single repetition sets. I exercise vigorously a major part of my body, then immediately thereafter, without any resting, I vigorously exercise another part of my body and then vigorously exercise another part of my body, etc. By the time I am ready to repeat an exercise for the same part of my body that I previously exercised in that same workout, that respective body part has rested for several minutes and has sufficiently recovered, to permit me to repeat my same, previously done vigorous exercise for that same respective body part.


SUNBATHING HELPS YOU STRENGTHEN YOUR MUSCLES

Dr. Zane R. Kime writes, "Tuberculosis patients being treated by sunbathing have been observed to have well-developed muscles with very little fat, even though they have not exercised for months." "The Romans made use of the sun in training their Gladiators, for they knew that sunlight seemed to strengthen and enlarge the muscles." "A study of the results of combined sunlight and exercise, showed that a group that was getting the sunlight treatments with exercise, had improved almost twice as much as shown by their electrocardiograms, as had those who only exercised, even though both groups were on a general health resort treatment program."

The beliefs we were taught, that have convinced us that we are separate from God, perfection and health, are false ideas that have no power. The only power these beliefs have is the power we give to them. These false beliefs can be dissolved instantly understanding that the true you is perfect and healthy. I am healed by doing exercise. This is true prayer.

Why do you involuntarily go into sleep, comas, faint, become unconscious, develop pains, tremors, seizures, strokes, paralyses, convulsions, fevers, symptoms, loss of hunger, physiological dysfunctions, delusions, hallucinations, pathologies and diseases? Your body is overwhelmed with excessive stress, excessive enervation and excessive toxemia, with which the inherent intelligence, the God within, is unable presently to cope and to adapt. Therefore the inherent intelligence, the God within, forces you to physiologically rest, i.e., to water fast, so as to homeostatically survive, despite your self-destructive incorrect physicality, mentality, emotionality and spirituality. Your body always do the right thing. You are a passenger on the train of life, not the conductor. Since life began on earth, the inherent intelligence, the God within each cell of your body, made the optimum adaptation and resolution, to any problem to which your body is subjected. Whatever stresses your body presently has, every cell of your body has successfully learned how to cope with such, previously. It is already built into your genes, your chromosomes and your DNA. The inherent intelligence, the God within, if it chooses to cause you to physiologically rest, i.e., to water fast, it does so to protect you. This physiological rest, i.e., this water fast, helps you survive, despite your self-destructive lifestyle, thinking, emotionality and spirituality. Your physiological rest, i.e., your water fast, is for your protective benefit. Your need to physiologically rest, i.e., to water fast, will spontaneously disappear, and genuine hunger will return, when the cause and need for the inherent intelligence, the God within, to cause you to physiologically rest, i.e., to water fast, no longer exists.
